They arrived at 9.09am and left at 9.39am. They did a good job with the sofa which only required vacuuming and a steam clean. Unfortunately, the cleaning of 2 of the rugs left much to be desired. My originally beige rug had turned grey due to dust and other pollutants from the outside air and I felt that after 3 years it really did require a good shampoo-ing. However, it still looks the way it was before the service. Even the rug in my daughter's room still has all the marks it had. To be fair, they did mention in one of their texts that the success of stain removal is not guaranteed but like I tell my children, effort is in trying your best. Half an hour is not enough time to put your best foot forward.
I paid because payment was promised. But $440 for this is a waste of money.

Steam cleaning is not the same as medical sterilisation, and microorganisms located deep inside inaccessible foam, padding, or the sofa frame may not be fully reached.

Professional sofa cleaning may contribute to a cleaner indoor environment by removing dust, allergens, dust-mite waste, pet dander, and fine particles trapped within upholstered furniture. These contaminants can become airborne when the sofa is used, disturbed, or vacuumed improperly.
However, indoor air quality is also affected by ventilation, humidity, mould, air-conditioning maintenance, carpets, curtains, pets, and other sources. Sofa cleaning should therefore form part of a broader home-cleaning and indoor-air-quality routine.

How can I keep my sofa clean between professional cleanings?
Yes. Our professional sofa cleaning process uses a specialised vacuum to extract dust mites, their waste particles, and embedded dust from upholstered fabric. Steam treatment also applies high heat to help reduce remaining dust mites and other microorganisms on accessible surfaces.
However, no sofa cleaning method can guarantee the complete and permanent removal of every dust mite. Dust mites naturally return and may begin building up again within approximately 2 to 3 months, depending on the home environment and usage.
What should I do immediately after a spill?
Use a clean, dry, absorbent white cloth to blot and absorb as much liquid as possible. Do not scrub or rub the affected area, as this may spread the spill, push it deeper into the upholstery, or damage the fabric fibres.
Work gently from the outer edge of the spill towards the centre. Do not use a wet cloth, as adding unnecessary moisture may enlarge the stain or leave water marks. Avoid applying household detergents, bleach, baking soda, or untested DIY cleaning solutions unless the sofa manufacturer specifically recommends them.

Some DIY treatments may also set the stain further into the upholstery, making professional stain removal more difficult later. Before applying any product, check the manufacturer’s care label and test it on a hidden area. For valuable, delicate, or heavily stained sofas, professional assessment is the safer option.
Should I use a fabric protector after cleaning?
A suitable fabric protector may help reduce the absorption of future spills and make routine sofa maintenance easier. However, fabric protection is not suitable for every upholstery material, and it does not make the sofa completely stain-proof or waterproof.
Before applying one, check the manufacturer’s care instructions and confirm that the product is compatible with the fabric. The sofa must also be completely clean and dry before application. Can old sofas still be cleaned?
Yes, many older fabric sofas can still undergo professional sofa cleaning, provided the upholstery remains structurally sound and suitable for the chosen method.
Before cleaning, we will check for weakened fabric, loose seams, fraying, unstable dyes, deteriorated foam, existing tears, and other signs of ageing. Cleaning can remove accumulated dirt and improve hygiene, but it cannot repair worn fabric, damaged cushioning, broken frames, or other pre-existing defects.

Our sofa cleaning services cover the accessible fabric-upholstered surfaces of the sofa. The following are not included:
- Leather sofa cleaning
- Cleaning of the sofa’s rear backing and underside base
- Upholstery repair, reupholstery, stitching, or structural repairs
- Restoration of faded fabric or permanent discolouration
- Guaranteed removal of every stain or odour
- Cleaning of inaccessible internal foam, padding, or frames
- Specialist remediation for severe or deeply embedded mould
- Targeted shampooing and wet extraction under the Steam Cleaning package
- Treating burnt marks or areas.
Targeted stain treatment, spot shampooing, and wet-vacuum extraction are included under our Deep Sofa Cleaning service. Any limitations identified during the pre-cleaning examination will be explained before work begins.
What sofa materials and upholstered furniture can you clean?
We provide professional cleaning for most fabric-upholstered sofas, including common synthetic fabrics, cotton blends, linen, velvet, and other textile upholstery. However, the suitability of Steam Sofa Cleaning or Deep Sofa Cleaning depends on the fabric’s care instructions, condition, colour stability, and tolerance to moisture and heat.
Delicate materials such as velvet, linen, suede-like fabrics, and specialty upholstery require assessment before cleaning. Please send us a clear reference photo and, where available, the manufacturer’s care label so we can recommend a suitable cleaning method. We currently do not provide leather sofa cleaning.
Outdoor cushions may also be cleaned on a case-by-case basis, provided the material and internal filling are suitable for professional wet cleaning. Weather damage, mould penetration, faded fabric, or deteriorated foam cannot be restored through cleaning.
